(FOX40.COM) — The Amador County Sheriff's Office released a statement stating its office is aware of an ongoing telephone scam demanding that people pay for missing jury duty. • Video above: Law enforcement impersonation scam
According to ACSO, the scammer is identifying themselves as the Sheriff of Amador County and is asking callers to make payments due to allegedly missing federal grand jury duty.
"Please be advised that the Sheriff's Office does not request payments over the phone for 'missed jury duty' or any other matter," ACSO said.
The sheriff's office said if you do get a call, do not provide any information or make any payments.
