(KRON) — A Redwood City family says it's taking legal action against a renter who allegedly drove their RV to Burning Man without permission, causing thousands of dollars in weather damage to the camper.

The renter’s contract specifically stated that the RV could not be taken to Burning Man, RV owner Ronnie Guinto told KRON4. However, a tracking device inside the RV allegedly showed the renter drive the camper to Black Rock City, Nevada during the dates of the festival.

“The insurance won't cover [the damages],” Guinto said. “... He still did it, he still made the choice. It's disappointing and heartbreaking.”

The renter responsible for the damages, Guinto said, is Shaban Shakoori. According to business records from Guinto, Shakoori rented the RV the same weekend as the burning man fest
