NILES Students from Niles Middle School will participate in a two-day event designed to promote street safety and walkability in the city.

The "Safe Street Demo Week" is a joint effort between Niles City Schools and the City of Niles. The event, which takes place Sept. 1 and 2 on the streets surrounding the school, is designed to promote bike and street safety while also helping the city secure state grants for safety infrastructure projects.

The events were planned by Brian McConnell, Niles Middle School dean of students, and Bianca Rozenblad, Niles city planner and grant coordinator. They are partnering with Trumbull County Public Health, Youngstown State University, and Creating Healthy Communities.
