RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - On Sept. 1, 1807, Aaron Burr was acquitted of treason in a Richmond courtroom.

The former vice president was the man known for killing Alexander Hamilton in a duel about three years earlier.

Thomas Jefferson wanted Burr to hang for his alleged crimes of treason, but Burr was eventually acquitted.
