TAMPA, Fla. — A Florida State University football player was hospitalized after being injured in a shooting.

Gadsden County Sheriff's deputies responded to a reported shooting in Havana, which is just outside Tallahassee, on Sunday night, according to a Facebook post by officials .

They found linebacker Ethan Pritchard, who was brought to the hospital for medical treatment.

University officials said in a statement that the 6-foot-2, 224-pound freshman from Sanford is in critical but stable condition in the intensive care unit, suffering from a gunshot wound. Officials said Pritchard was visiting family in Havana when the shooting happened.

Pritchard did not play in Florida State's season opener, a in Tallahassee.
