HAMPDEN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) -- Last week, officials broke ground on a major park renovation project in Cumberland County.

On Wednesday, August 27, the Hampden Township Board of Commissioners, staff, and project partners gathered to celebrate the ground breaking for Phase One of three for the Smith Drive Park project.

Hampden Township says this project is a "major step forward in expanding recreational opportunities for our residents."

According to Hampden Township, Phase One of this project will include eight pickleball courts, two basketball courts, walking trails, green space, playgrounds, several pavilions, and site development to support the next two phases.
