(WHTM) -- Back on September 4, 1993, Penn State played its very first game as a member of the Big Ten Conference, marking an end to the program's 106 years of independence.
Penn State football marked its entrance into the Big Ten Conference in spectacular fashion on the opening weekend of the 1993 season, defeating Minnesota with a score of 38-20.

Not only did Penn State prevail on opening day, but they would also go on to set an all-time touchdown receiving record. This was accomplished by redshirt sophomore wideout Bobby Engram, who caught four touchdown passes for 29, 31, 20, and 31 yards from junior quarterback John Sacca.
