Ex- Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman will be back with the rival Boston Red Sox in 2026.
The Cuban-born 37-year-old signed an extension with Boston for 2026 that “guarantees him $13.3 million and also includes a mutual vesting option for ’27,” via MLB.com.
Chapman, who struggled at times while closing for the Yankees from 2017-22, has 27 saves, 76 strikeouts and a 1.02 ERA for Boston. He has gone 15 straight appearances without allowing a hit."
“I think the guy has been great for us, and not only on the field,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters. “What he’s done on the field is amazing, but as you guys see, in the clubhouse, the way he prepares, he’s been great.”
