Officials in Hurricane are working to install a new access point to Sand Hollow State Park, with completion expected by late 2026.

Hurricane Mayor Nanette Billings spoke about the development during the city council meeting in August, saying she’s “super, super excited.” The access point will be located at Exit 19 on state Route 7.

Billings told St. George News that the project has been in the works for almost three years. It initially began as a proposal to the state legislature, with Billings inquiring whether legislators had ever visited Sand Hollow.

“I ended up calling all 29 of our senators, and I called 75 of our House representatives,” Billings said. “I just said, ‘How often do you come to Sand Hollow?’”
