BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WATE) — Authorities in Knox County, Kentucky are investigating the death of a woman after a suspected animal attack.

Members of the Knox County Sheriff's Department and Barbourville Police Department are investigating the death of 44-year-old Priscilla Jones following an incident on the afternoon of Friday, Aug. 30.

According to a sheriff's department release, Jones was walking along Sandy Branch Road in the Flat Lick community when she was attacked by a pack of dogs roaming the area. Someone who knew Jones heard her in distress and called 911.

Personnel from the East Knox Volunteer Fire Department found Jones suffering from life-threatening injuries and unable to communicate. She was transported to the Barbourville ARH Hospital where she later died.
