The concept of the “living wage” has grown in popularity over the last decade as pushes to increase the minimum wage came to the forefront of labor politics. Kansas is one of 20 states that match the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour, in comparison to next-door-neighbor Missouri’s $13.75 an hour.
Several bills have been introduced in the Kansas legislature over the last few years to increase that number all the way to $15-16 per hour, but no immediate change is on the horizon as of now.
