After the Trump administration pulled the plug last week on funding for the Salem Wind Port project — and in turn eliminated 800 construction jobs — Gov. Maura Healey joined fellow Northeast governors on Labor Day in pleading with the federal government to uphold existing offshore wind permits.
Last week, Healey condemned the Trump administration’s decision to cancel $679 million in federal funding for infrastructure projects supporting offshore wind, including $34 million headed to Salem.
A joint effort between the city, state and Crowley Wind Services, the 42-acre Salem project broke ground last year, on its way to becoming the state’s second major offshore wind port terminal.
