BOSTON — Sunday marked the 19th anniversary of manager Alex Cora’s only Fenway Park home run.
The Red Sox celebrated by showing his Aug. 31, 2006 home run against Hall of Famer Roy Halladay on the Jumbotron yesterday during a win over the Pirates .
Shortstop Trevor Story hit a similar one Monday during the sixth inning of Boston’s 6-4 win over the Guardians .
“Trevor with that bomb,” manager Alex Cora joked.
Story’s home run went 306 feet to right field for the shortest non inside-the-park homer in MLB this season, just shorter than teammate Ceddanne Rafaela’s 308-foot walkoff homer on June 4 vs. the Angels .
The initial call on the field was a foul ball. But the Red Sox reviewed it and it got overturned when video evidence showed the ball went off right fielder Jhonkensy Noel
