Southwest Airlines is facing labor fines of over $2.3 million for retaliating against workers in Arizona for taking paid time off (PTO), that they earned. The workers reportedly began receiving retaliation letters after taking a certain number of days off, which the state says is against labor laws.

Southwest does not accept the proposed fines, saying they violate constitutional principles of due process. The airline continues to defend its “generous leave policy” and the way it treats its employees, giving mechanics the opportunity to accrue 2,000 hours of paid sick leave. Meanwhile, more mechanics have filed complaints against the airline.
