AUSTIN, Texas — Sept. 1 marks the unofficial start of campaign season for the midterm elections.
Candidates can't formally file to run for the March 3, 2026, election until Nov. 8. But let's take a look at some of the races that are already shaping up to be contentious in 2026.
Texas Comptroller
First, there's the Republican primary for Texas comptroller. The comptroller's office oversees state spending, contracts and taxes.
