CHAPEL HILL — The North Carolina Tar Heels football team plays the TCU Horned Frogs in Week 1 of the 2025 college football season.

Head coach Bill Belichick , an eight-time Super Bowl champion with nearly 50 years of NFL experience, will lead the Tar Heels in his first game at the college level. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. at Kenan Stadium and the game will be televised on ESPN.

The 40th coach in program history, Belichick will try to help UNC bounce back from a 6-7 record in its final season under Mack Brown. A few seasons removed from playing for a national championship, TCU is entering its fourth year with head coach Sonny Dykes. The Horned Frogs, who are 0-3 in the all-time series against the Tar Heels, ended last season on a four-game winning streak. Watch UNC vs TCU
