BANGOR -- For the 62nd year in a row, runners laced up their shoes for the Labor Day 5 mile road race in Bangor.
Race organizers say this particular course is one of the longer races held in Maine. Children, adults and senior citizens all participated in the event. Bangor Parks and Recreation Assistant Director Debbie Gendreau says just over 100 runners were involved in this year's race.
"There were people who requested that we up the age group, so we added an 80+ because the racers here have been coming for 40 and 50 years and they were like we want our own category, so we did," Gendreau explained.
There were some fast times clocked by racers at the finish line. Twenty-two-year-old James Fahey of Orono was the first male to finish the race in 25:34. Meanwhile, 35-year-old Caitlyn Smit
