Newcastle have confirmed the signing of Yoane Wissa from Brentford in a £55million deal, with the striker handed the no. 9 jersey .

The Magpies chased the 28-year-old all summer and have finally secured his services in the closing stages of the transfer window on deadline day.

Brentford had knocked back offers of £25m and £40m for the DR Congo international, before accepting a third offer.

The transfer has been finalised just one day after Wissa released a bombshell statement expressing his desire to swap the Gtech Community Stadium for St. James' Park.

Wissa , who banged in 19 Premier League goals last term, has failed to feature this season as he pushed for an exit after four years in west London.
