BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Catholic Presbyterian Apartments residents celebrated Labor Day with a barbecue, music, good times, and laughter.

“It takes a neighborhood, it takes a village. So what we’re gonna be doing today in this village? We’re gonna be kicking it. We’re gonna be talking. We’re gonna be playing. We’re gonna make it happen,” Albert Mitchell Torregano III said.

Torregano III says today is a day everyone can celebrate.

“Sometime on Labor Day, a man might not have a job, right. But he go to a party and when he go to the party, he don’t even feel right getting the plate. Sometimes it’s because he figured other people might look at him and say, you know, you don’t even have a job. Why you here? They feel sorry about, they feel bad about maybe picking up a can of coke.
