LOUDON COUNTY, Tenn. — A recent Tennessee Wesleyan University graduate is following the same path her late father once walked.

Jayden Scott earned her degree in criminal justice with a minor in chemistry in August. She now hopes to begin a career in crime scene forensics — inspired in part by the law enforcement legacy left behind by her father, Loudon County Deputy Jason Scott.

Deputy Scott was shot and killed while responding to a domestic call on March 12, 2004. He died just 11 days before Jayden was born.

“Being pregnant was rough enough, but losing your best friend and husband is even tougher,” said Jayden’s mother, Joni Scott-Goddard.
