SOUTH BEND, Ind./NILES, Mich. (WNDU) - On this Labor Day, protesters took to the streets of Michiana as part of a national day of action called “Workers Over Billionaires.”
Hundreds of people gathered at Howard Park in South Bend with signs and frustrations about what is going on in our country. Some had strong words against President Trump and his administration on their signs before marching to the Jefferson Bridge.
Many protestors WNDU 16 News Now spoke to said they are doing this for the young people’s future.
“It’s about commitment to freedom, commitment to equality for all of us, and it is a commitment to make sure that our government represents all of us, not just the rich or those who have money,” said Joan Evans. “Programs have been cut, and those people will suffer.”
