SPARTANBURG, S.C. —

South Carolina's hands-free driving law is now in effect, prohibiting people across the state from holding their cellphones in their hands while driving on the road.

"The majority of our wrecks are easily preventable," Parris said. "People just not paying attention with cellphones and different things like that. I'm really hoping this new law is going to slow some of that down and keep everybody safer."
