The city of Selma continues to show signs of recovery more than two years after the devastating tornado in 2023.

That EF-2 tornado destroyed about a third of the city including the daycare facility at Crosspoint Christian Church.

The church is now rebuilding a brand new facility.

The new construction project is another sign of progress in the city’s long road to recovery.

“We was able to build it just a hair bigger than what it was,” said Pastor David Nichols.

“The roof line’s way higher than what the old building was. But it’s almost exactly the same size but just configured in a way that we could work with better.”

Church officials expect construction of the new facility to be completed by Thanksgiving.
