BEAL CITY, Mich. (WILX) - A small Michigan town made headlines for a catfishing case several years ago, and now it’s back in the spotlight.
The case is the plot of a new Netflix documentary, ‘Unknown Number: The High School Catfish.’
The documentary was shot in several parts of the state.
Some video was even captured at St. Johns High School.
“It was really important for us to spend time in Michigan. To show what Michigan is like. To show what this small, small town of Beal City is like, and where these kids have grown up their entire childhood,” said Director Skye Borgman.
The movie is centered around teens who receive threatening messages from an unknown number, hence the documentary’s title.
