SARATOGA SPRINGS — They got two important letters mixed up, but everything else aligned perfectly for Ted Noffey in the Grade I Hopeful on closing day of the Saratoga Race Course meet on Monday.
Named — sort of — for Spendthrift Farm’s general manager Ned Toffey, the son of Into Mischief blew away the Hopeful field by 8 1/2 lengths under John Velazquez, capping a remarkable Labor Day weekend for the Hall of Fame jockey.
