MACKINAC ISLAND – A man was rescued on Sunday, Aug. 31 after falling part way down a cliff where climbing is prohibited on Mackinac Island, fire officials said.
It’s the second rescue this year and the 10th in the last 15 years, despite climbing on cliffs being prohibited, the department said in a statement.
The island’s fire department and emergency medical personnel were called about 1:57 p.m. for a man who fell part of the way down a cliff and a possible broken arm. Dispatchers told first responders as they were making their way to the cliff that the man was slipping and didn’t believe he could hold on much longer, according to a statement from the fire department.
