LEXINGTON, Ky. —

The Kentucky Wildcats opened the 2025 football season with a 24-16 win over Toledo, and they'll be getting another test in Week 2 when they host Ole Miss.

Kentucky did not shine in any one area against Toledo, with new transfer quarterback Zach Calzada throwing for 85 yards on 10 for 23 attempts and an interception. The UK rushing game showed a bit more promise, with Dante Dowdell tallying 129 yards and one touchdown and Seth McGowan rushing for 78 yards and a touchdown.

Kentucky's defense held strong through three quarters, not allowing any scores from the Rockets, but they would let up two touchdowns in the fourth quarter alone.

Despite still having some obvious kinks to iron out, the Wildcats walked away in Week 1 with a win.
