FRANKLIN GROVE, Ill. (KWQC) - A gas station employee was burned by hot coffee that police say a customer threw.

The Lee County (Ill.) Sheriff’s Office said they responded Wednesday to the Casey’s General Store in Franklin Grove.

Officers said Brandi Elliott, 41, threw a hot cup of coffee on an employee causing burns to the employee’s skin.

Elliott then displayed a knife and threatened the employee, according to police.

Elliott faces charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault/public property and aggravated assault/use of deadly weapon.

Elliot was released from custody with pretrial previsions.
