Monday marks 40 years since explorers, led in part by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, first located the wreckage of the RMS Titanic on the ocean floor.

"That was super exciting. The first time we "flew" over the wreck itself. And we could actually see the ship, and it was totally recognizable," Yoerger said.
Former Navy officer Robert Ballard and French Oceanographer Jean-Louis Michel made the discovery with the help of an experimental unmanned submersible, the Argo.
Yoerger said the crew knew it was the Titanic when they spotted one of the massive ship's distinctive boilers.
