HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Labor Day rallies in Hawaii and across the country urged the federal government to prioritize working families over profit.
Organized in Hawaii by Indivisible Hawaii and the ACLU Hawaii, the “Workers, Not Billionaires” rallies aimed to raise concerns about the rising cost of food, health care, housing, and energy, as well as the loss of critical jobs, such as air traffic controllers and national park rangers.
At the Hawaii State Capitol, resident Sandra Brooks said, “Workers are the ones who are the backbone of our country. It’s not the millionaires and billionaires.”
Resident Donald Piburn said, “Most of us aren’t born with a silver spoon. We have to work for a living. We have to contribute to the economy. We are the economy.”
