MADISON, Wis. --- After leading Wisconsin Football to a season opening shutout victory over Miami of Ohio, sixth year safety Preston Zachman was named the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Week.

Zachman had two interceptions in the fourth quarter against the RedHawks, and told News 3 Sports that he'd never done that in any game, at any level. He's the first Badger to pull off the feat since Ricardo Hallman picked up Purdue twice in 2023.

The safety is the only Power 4 player with multiple interceptions this season, and becomes the the first Badger to be named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week since Hunter Wohler earned the honor on September 18, 2023.
