CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - One lucky person could be ending the summer a billionaire, as the Powerball Jackpot soars to an estimated $1.1 billion on Monday, Sept. 1.

The big prize had Central Virginians rushing to buy tickets this Labor Day, hoping to extend the long weekend a little bit more.

“When the lotto first came out many years ago, I started buying them on a regular basis, but didn’t win anything, so got away from it, but just told the wife there that we ought to get at least one ticket and take our chances,” Powerball player Larry Hedblom said.
