INDIANAPOLIS — Police found an infant dead on the near east side of Indianapolis Monday afternoon.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, around 3 p.m., officers received a report that indicated a dead infant was located at 3500 Brookside Parkway S. Dr. — which is the City of Indianapolis' listed address for Brookside Park. IMPD indicated that a passerby located the infant and called police.

Officers subsequently responded to the scene to conduct a death investigation. When police made it to the area, they found the dead infant in a wood line at the park.

The Indiana Department of Child Services, Marion County Coroner's Office, Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency and IMPD child abuse detectives all responded to the scene to assist with the investig
