COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A proposed housing development in El Paso County is once again moving forward.
In June, sketch plans for the Flying Horse East, a neighborhood near Schriever Space Force Base, were denied recommendation during a county planning commission meeting.
On Thursday, during the El Paso County Commissioners’ Land Use meeting, commissioners approved the sketch plan with a vote of 4 to 1.
The proposed neighborhood would span 1,800 acres and include plans for nearly 5,000 new homes. It would include parks, schools, hiking trails, a golf course, hotels and more.
According to Flying Horse East’s website, planning for the project began in 2020.
