Hawaiian Airlines , part of the Alaska Air Group (AAG), is reportedly adjusting part of its outstanding orders with Boeing , converting five Boeing 787-9s to the larger 787-10. First reported in an update on Boeing orders by SeekingAlpha and subsequently shared on X by JohnNYC , the conversion would see AAG trading off the greater range of the 787-9 for the increased capacity of the 787-10.
The conversion intuitively makes sense, as the 787-10 still possesses enough range to serve AAG's new intercontinental routes from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to Asia and Europe. But its larger capacity will allow the aircraft to be configured with a greater number of seats compared to the 787-9.
