Aldi is launching a new version of its beloved Cuthbert caterpillar cake for shoppers to get their hands on this month.

While the cake has become a familiar celebration staple for many, Aldi has now added a new twist to its latest version of the Cuthbert cake in a move which it claims to be a 'UK supermarket first'.

The supermarket has launched its new, limited edition 'gender reveal' version of the Cuthbert cake this month in order to celebrate September being the month that the most babies are born, according to the government census.

While Aldi's Cuthbert cake classically features a swirl of chocolate icing within its sponge, the new cake will feature either blue or pink icing to help expectant parents reveal to friends and family the gender of their baby.
