JEFFERSON CO., Fla. (WCTV) - The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash in Jefferson County that left a deputy with minor injuries.

Troopers say the crash happened just after 1 a.m., Tuesday morning, at the intersection of Waukeenah Highway and U.S. Highway 27. A vehicle stopped at the stop sign on Waukeenah Highway attempted to cross but failed to yield to oncoming traffic.

That vehicle struck the driver’s side of a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office patrol SUV that was traveling east on U.S. 27.

According to FHP, the impact caused the patrol vehicle to spin into a nearby gas station parking lot, where it came to rest facing west. The other vehicle stopped just south of the intersection.
