TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Donna Adelson’s attorneys began their case Tuesday morning, calling witnesses in hopes to sway the jury as the high profile murder trial entered a third week.

Judge Stephen Everett also heard arguments from Adelson’s attorney Josh Zelman to drop the murder and solicitation charges against Adelson. It’s routine for defense teams to ask judges to throw out charges they feel have not been proven by the State.

Zelman argued that the State had not offered enough evidence to show Adelson specifically ordered the 2014 murder-for-hire of FSU Professor Dan Markel. Much of the evidence shows her actions in the years after the murder, with little to point a finger to Donna in the months before, he argued.
