The Ridgefield school board approved a revised cellphone policy Aug. 26 after months of discussion.
In August 2024, state schools Superintendent Chris Reykdal published guidance for districts and called upon them to adopt policies to reduce cellphone distraction by the start of the 2025-26 school year. Since then, districts took the year to develop a new policy or revise current policy.
The Ridgefield School District’s updated policy states that elementary students aren’t allowed to bring personal electronic devices to school, including cellphones, smartwatches and internet-enabled gaming devices.
