ORANGEBURG, S.C. — Travelers in and around the heart of South Carolina State University in Orangeburg should be aware of a road closure and traffic detour beginning on Wednesday, September 10, through Friday, September 12, so that construction crews can conduct utility tie-ins to the university's new academic building.
Gaethers Street will be closed from the fork at the Thelma Howard Williams Rose Garden to Lance Street, beginning at 4 p.m. September 10. Traffic will flow in both directions on Naylor Street with access from Pinckney, Rucker, and Lance streets.
Geathers will remain open between Lance and Buckley streets.
Ken Davis, SC State's Associate Vice President for Facilities Management, Planning and Construction, said he expects the work to be completed by 5 p.m. September 12.
