RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Farmers in Nevada are set to lose $3 million in federal funding after a program was cut years ahead of schedule.
The funding from the USDA is meant to support small to mid-size food and farm businesses, but the Southwestern Regional Food Business Center, which serves several states, including Nevada, will end its operations this month instead of 2028 as originally planned.
In the announcement of the cuts, the USDA Agriculture Secretary says the centers were created without long-term funding to finance them.
