For those who regularly ride the city's public buses, even the slightest upgrade can be life-changing. That's why when the head of the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority recently discussed changes to its bus system with The Buffalo News editorial board, there was hope for more improvements. The NFTA did not disappoint.

Executive Director Kimberly Minkel pointed to 34 new electric buses in operation today. The electric-powered ride feels smooth and effortless. "We hear from the community good things about those buses. ... They're nice and quiet," Minkel correctly observed.

Battery electric buses cost about double that of a gas-powered bus. It is well worth the expense.
