Burger 809 will close its doors downtown in December.
Known for its sliders , salads and comfort food, Burger 809 has been operating at Citygarden's cafe space for over a year.
According to a press release announcing the closure, Burger 809 had plans to remain downtown, but the Gateway Foundation, a St. Louis-based non-profit that operates the sculpture park, terminated its contract with the eatery.
"The foundation provided a vague notification to owner Tasha Smith, indicating the end of the food service agreement without a specific reason," the release reads.
Citygarden is an urban sculpture park situated between Chestnut and Market streets and Eighth and 10th streets. Before Burger 809, Citygarden was formerly home to restaurants Terrace View, Joe’s Chili Bowl, Kaldi’s Coffee and
