ST. LOUIS — A 47-year-old man was shot in the wrist Monday night in an apparent road rage incident between two drivers near Hampton and Gravois avenues in south St. Louis, police said.

City police spokesman Mitch McCoy said Tuesday that the victim had ''a very minor wound" and was taken to a hospital. McCoy said police investigators detained the other driver, a 58-year-old man, and seized a firearm.

McCoy said police first got a call about 7 p.m. from a woman who said she had heard yelling and shots fired.

Then the victim called 911 to report he had been shot, McCoy said. Shortly after that, the other driver called 911 to report he had fired shots "in an apparent exchange of gunfire" in a road rage incident.

Police said the two vehicles were stopped and had pulled alongside each other
