CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Two people were detained at the Department of Homeland Security’s Cedar Rapids office Tuesday, Escucha Mi Voz reports.

An organized protest took place at the office Tuesday morning, with advocates rallying outside to support four immigrant families during their check-ins.

The two individuals detained are not affiliated with Escucha Mi Voz.

In preparation for the protest, ICE officers formed a blockade, barring demonstrators from entering the building’s lawn and neighboring alleyways. Advocates often join immigrant families for check-ins with ICE. However, because of the blockade, none of the demonstrators were able to enter the building or form in the front yard.
