NASSAU COUNTY, FLORIDA, Fla. — A Nassau County deputy has been arrested on battery and misconduct charges stemming from an arrest he made in July, the sheriff's office told First Coast News on Tuesday.
William Woods, 32, is charged with official misconduct, a felony, and misdemeanor battery (touch or strike) in connection with an arrest he made on July 6, according to the Nassau County Sheriff's Office.
In a news release from the sheriff's office, deputies said Woods responded to a report of an intoxicated person, finding him inside his car at the Amelia Hotel at the Beach in Fernandina Beach July 6.
Woods arrested the man after he was unable to complete field sobriety tests, and placed him in his patrol car in handcuffs. Deputies said the man then began hitting his head against the d
