CANTON, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The North Carolina Highway Patrol reports it is investigating after a body was found on I-40 in August.

NCHP reports the body of 32-year-old David Christian Brown was found near exit 31 on I-40W around 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 29.

Brown was hit by a vehicle and suffered a severe head injury, according to troopers.

Officials said his death is being investigated as a hit-and-run; however, no information on suspects has been released at this time.

An autopsy was conducted on Tuesday, officials said.
