A Brockton mother is facing a charge of reckless endangerment of a child after she left her 22-month-old locked alone in a hot car, police said Wednesday.
The child, who was screaming in the back seat and sweating profusely, was found by a couple, according to the Hingham Police Department.
The mother, 44, has not been identified by name as she has yet to be formally charged, police said.
A criminal complaint against the woman was filed in Hingham District Court.
Around 2:30 p.m. Monday, a couple who parked at 94 Derby St., heard the child screaming in the car next to them, the statement said.
Police said the car’s windows were closed, the engine was off, and the sun roof was open.
