Northwestern University is requesting assistance from the public to help locate a faculty member who was reported missing over Labor Day weekend.

Nina Kraus, a professor at the university's School of Communication, was reported missing by her family on Monday, Sept. 1.

"The University is hopeful that with the community’s help, we can find Professor Kraus and assure her safety," the Chicago area campus said in a statement.

According to an Evanston Police Department news release , the 72-year-old was last seen leaving her Evanston home to go for a walk around 9 a.m. local time on the day she was reported missing. Evanston Police do not suspect foul play at this time, Commander Ryan Glew told USA TODAY.
