Businesses in North Lanarkshire town centres will have the opportunity to seek grant funding from the council under a new pilot scheme planned to launch in the 2025/2026 financial year. ‌

The council is to make a total of £250,000 available to support businesses in its towns and possibly also in outlying retail areas. ‌

Eligible applicants will include owners of vacant properties or their representatives where they have a new tenant or are actively seeking one, start-ups looking to lease empty properties and existing businesses looking to expand. ‌

Large chains, betting shops, sex shops, pawnbrokers, tanning salons, tobacconists, vape shops and alcohol-only outlets will not be permitted to apply for grants.

The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
